The quarry is extended northern from Burglengenfeld till the small town Saaß. The Burglengenfeld region constitutes the intersection of three natural landscape areas. From the west, the „mittlere Frankenalb" reaches the Naabtal. The quarry is located at the eastern slopes of the Frankenalp.

Land Prime farmland would be taken out of production forever, and the coal mining process will likely block tile drains and eventually cause subsidence (sinking of the land) lowering productivity of the rich soil in this region. During and after mining, growth is limited by the risk of placing new construction over mined land.
Nothing in the site plans, however, permits removing these lands permanently from food production, which would be the case if dumps are permitted in pits and quarries. Additionally, dump contents put food and water at risk forever. An attack on prime farmland, is an attack on the food and water necessary for all people, rural and urban.
